I spent over two decades as a financial advisor, portfolio manager, and public speaker at a niche Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firm serving primarily dental professionals. I became a partner in 2008 and served as the Director of Portfolio Management for the entirety of my career. The firm grew its total assets under management (AUM) from under $25 million when I started in 2000, to over $2 billion by the time I left in 2022. I was a CFA Charterholder from 2003 through 2022.
As happens to all great companies, with success came a host of new players and complications. I eventually opted to turn down the golden handcuffs for a more flexible, less stressful, location independent (LI) lifestyle. I now enjoy educating family, friends—and everyday investors—on how to invest their money wisely.
This now defines my identity, as my passion for helping anyone interested in attaining financial independence (FI) comes through the first time you meet me. I spend less than 10 minutes a month reviewing my investments and have absolutely no interest in following investment-related news on a regular basis.
I use the extra time I have acquired from reaching FI to travel with my wife all over the world visiting friends and family, improving my time to solve a Rubik’s cube (sub 1 minute), watching Baltimore Orioles games, and searching for great point redemptions on airlines or resorts to visit faraway places at a moment’s notice.
Put simply, I am living my FI life the way I want to.
